Question: Getting buy-in on tech... What advice do you have for articulating the potential impact of legal tech to non-legal stakeholders?

Answer: I think what you have to do is articulate a particular outcome. So, what does your world look like? If you go to the finance team and say, "Hey, wanna buy this tool, it's gonna make life easier internally within the legal team." Well, maybe that's a good enough reason. Maybe it's not. In a lot of ways, finance people are like, too bad. Do your legal work and organize it on your own. If it's a little more difficult for you, too bad. Right? We are support functions, it is it is what it is.

You have to approach it in terms of, what does that technology do to the way your team interacts with others? Does it shorten turnaround times on work that you're doing? Does it help provide increased transparency? Does it help show the value of what your team is doing? Think about those outcomes that you want from the technology more than the substantive features that technology will provide you.
